The Presidential Security Group (PSG) expressed readiness days before the scheduled State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Duterte will deliver his sixth and final SONA on Monday, July 26.
In a press statement Friday, the PSG said they have activated a Task Force for SONA 2021, as early as May, to plan and prepare the security for the upcoming annual address.
“With less than a week to go, a series of security and inter-agency meetings, to include ocular and site inspections have already been conducted in close coordination with involved government and security agencies, counterparts and stakeholders,” the presidential security detail said.
“These meticulous preparations are set to ensure the safety and security of the President and all of the attendees from all forms of threats, to include Covid-19 virus,” they added.
On July 9, the PSG held a simulation exercise (SIMEX) with the augmentation elements from the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to evaluate the overall readiness of all the involved agencies.
Another SIMEX is also expected at the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City today.
