Recto: PH “in good hands” with Lacson, Sotto and Moreno win in 2022 polls

Senator Ralph Recto believes that the country will be under capable hands with whoever wins either Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, Senator Panfilo Lacson, and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.

Lacson and Sotto, who have expressed their presidential and vice presidential bids respectively in public are “qualified” for the positions, according to Recto during an interview on Abante’s Balitaan at Kumustahan.

Recto was also asked if the two veteran senators sought his advice and his point of view on their decision..

“Ilan lang naman kami sa senado eh diba? So 24 lang kami I’m in the majority with them sa senate, I am the pro temp so si Senate President Tito Sotto siya ang Senate President namin siya ang boss namin ako ang deputy niya,” he said.

He also mentioned that it’s good for Filipinos to have other choices for the said positions.

“So mabuti rin naman na may choice ang taumbayan at sinasabi ngayon ni Senator Ping na matagal na rin sa senado, matagal na rin ang karanasan sa gobyerno, nagsilbi sa bayan sa PNP pa lang hanggang naging senador, napakahabang panahon na rin so maraming nalalaman yan,” Recto explained.

Meanwhile, Moreno, who has yet to disclose the position he wishes to pursue in May 2022 elections, has been described by Recto as “young”, “energetic” and “dynamic”.

“Mahaba na rin ang karanasan niya sa politika so pwede nating posibleng tulungan din yan so pinag-aaralan pa nating mabuti. May partido tayo, paguusapan din namin yan,” he said.

On the other hand, Recto, who is in his last term, said that he will only gun for a local position in Batangas as either governor or congressman. For the senator, what he can do for those eyeing higher positions is to give them advice and correct them if they have made some mistakes.

“May access tayo sa kanila para magbigay ng advice kung papaano natin patatakbuhin yung ating ekonomiya at kung papaano natin lalong pagagandahin yung buhay ng ating mga kababayan,” he said.
