Recto bats for a ‘young’ and ‘energetic’ president

Being physically young is an important characteristic that a president should have, Senator Ralph Recto bared on Friday.

“Ako, sa tingin ko importante rin yung bata ngayon sa magiging pangulo eh,” Recto said in an interview on Abante’s Balitaan at Kumustahan.

He made the answer following a question on whether Manila Mayor Isko Moreno was too young to pursue a higher position in the government. He said that it is an advantage for Moreno.

“Sa dami ng problema ng ating bansa you need to be energetic no, so I think that’s an advantage also of Mayor Isko na bata pa siya. At nakikita natin sa Manila dahil bata pa siya, natutulog yan sa city hall eh,” Recto explained.

Recto also said that it is undeniable that younger politicians would soon take the helm of handling higher positions in the government, and that he, along with the other senators, will not always be there to lead.

“Mayroon na kaming mga nadevelop na lider na rin sa lalawigan ng Batangas di naman kami lagi nandidito, dadating ang panahon na magreretire rin kami at siguraduhin namin na yung papalit samin, mas magaling samin,” he said.

“So ganun din sa national, ganun din dapat tayo mag-isip na bigyan naman din natin yung iba let’s make sure na they’re well-equipped to lead the (inaudible) of government maglead sa mga dadating na panahon,” he added.
