Sana hindi ma-convict! De Lima is free to run for reelection, says Palace

Malacañang said it respects the decision of detained Senator Leila de Lima to run again the 2022 national elections.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said de Lima, a staunch critic of the Duterte administration, has the right to seek re-election.

“Kung tatakbo po siya, that’s her right,” Roque said in a virtual presser Wednesday.

The spokesperson also wished the lawmaker won’t get convicted with finality before the elections.

“Hanggang hindi pa siya convicted with finality. Sana hindi siya ma-convict with finality bago dumating ang eleksyon,” he added.

De Lima is currently detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center at Camp Crame in Quezon City over drug-related charges.
