President Rodrigo Duterte thinks former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, a vocal critic of the administration, is stupid and has “illusions of grandeur.”
Duterte made the statement after Trillanes accused him and Senator Christopher “Bong” Go of corruption worth P6.6 billion in public works contracts in the Davao Region.
“I think he has illusions of grandeur. Alam mo natawa pa ako, sabi niya, ‘Well, I used to be the alternate, but with (Vice President Leni) Robredo running as governor, I am now the principal’. Kita mo out of context talaga eh,” the Chief Executive said during a meeting with PDP-Laban executives Tuesday.
The Philippines, he added, would “implode” should Trillanes win the presidential race in the 2022 national elections.
“Kung ‘yan ang ma-presidente, sasabog itong Pilipinas. It will not explode, it will implode dito sa loob palabas,” said Duterte.
