Wala nang problema! Bello claims dispute between FoodPanda, riders settled

MANILA – The majority of riders from a food delivery service company have reported back to work after problems between the parties have been settled, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reported on Wednesday.

Bello tells Foodpanda to listen to workers’ concerns, not threaten them

“A dialogue between the parties was already held. Undersecretary for Labor Relations Benjo Benavidez talked with them. Wala na pong problema (There are no more problems),” Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said during a Laging Handa briefing.

He, however, said that out of the 2,500 affected riders of food delivery app FoodPanda, only 36 have yet to return to work.

He said the parties will have another discussion with the local DOLE office.

Regarding the 10-year suspension sanction, Bello said the company admitted that it was a glitch on their communication line.

“It’s a technical difficulty and it was already fixed. There is no more 10-year-suspension,” he added.

The rift stemmed from the firm’s move imposing a 10-year suspension on its riders who complained of reduced earnings due to supposed changes in company policies.

Last week, some 300 FoodPanda riders picketed in Davao City over the company’s move. (PNA)
