Willie Revillame a sure Duterte bet for Senate race: Roque

TV host Willie Revillame is included on President Rodrigo Duterte’s 2022 senatorial lineup, Malacañang said Thursday.

“Iyan po ako ay nasisigurado ko na, dahil parang inimbita na talaga siya ni Presidente,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said when asked if Revillame will be part of Duterte’s Senate slate.

Roque, however, had no idea if actor Robin Padilla and broadcaster Raffy Tulfo were also considered for the final list of bets.

“Hindi ko pa po alam, ang masisigurado ko lang po ay si Willie Revillame,” according to him.

Earlier, Eastern Samar Governor Ben Evardone, PDP-Laban’s vice president for the Visayas, announced some of their senatorial candidates for the 2022 national elections.

The list included Roque, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chairman Benjamin Abalos Jr., Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission Chairman Greco Belgica, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, Information and Communications Technology Secretary Gregorio Honasan II, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, and Public Works Secretary Mark Villar.

Also submitted for consideration were House Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda, Senate Majority Floor Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri, former senator Joseph Victor Ejercito, Revillame, Padilla, and Tulfo.

“That’s Duterte’s personal list. Based on his consultations with several leaders and personalities. He’s still finalizing it and hopefully it will be finalized before the PDP-Laban national congress in September where all the candidates will be proclaimed by PDP-Laban,” said Evardone.
