Zubiri, Villanueva humbled by Sotto endorsement for reelection bid

Senate Majority Leader Migz Zubiri and Senator Joel Villanueva said on Wednesday they were humbled and honored by Senate President Tito Sotto’s support for their reelection bid in the 2022 elections.

Sotto mentioned the two senators among the names he and the Nationalist People’s Coalition was planning to include on its senatorial ticket. He earlier confirmed his plan to run for vice president in a tandem with Senator Ping Lacson.

“I’m honored and humbled by the Senate President’s endorsement of my reelection bid,” Zubiri said.

“Nakita naman po nang ating Mahal na SP kung gaano po kami magtrabaho sa Senado na nagingibabaw sa aming grupo ang kapakanan nang taong bayan bago partido o sarili,” he said.

“Malaking karangalan po sa akin na maka kuha nang endorsement mula sa Nationalist Peoples Coalition bilang Senator sa kanilang line-up,” Zubiri said.

“At pangako po namin sa taong bayan ay itutuloy po namin ang Performance based public service at hindi pamumulitika lamang. Muli Maraming Salamat sa Aming Senate President at sa NPC,” he said.

For his part, Villanueva said he was also “humbled and honored by the endorsement of SP Sotto and Sen Ping.”

“Am sure it is not just because we have this special bonding kaming tatlo as the Andres Bonifacio Club but because they have seen first hand our commitment and dedication when it comes to the work expected of a legislator,” he said.

“We’ve been together for over five years in office, and since Day 1 of the 17th Congress, SP and Sen Ping consistently walked their talk, a quality that inspires me personally,” he said.

“They are always in my prayers. I would like to thank SP Sotto and Sen Ping – titans of the Senate – for their kind words,” Villanueva said.
