Art Tugade says he’s not a thief but not a saint either

Transportation Secretary Art Tugade has been described many things but he boldly declared that he is not supposedly corrupt.

Tugade, one of the bilyonaryos in the Duterte Cabinet, said he was not saint but he has not stolen public funds while serving at the transportation department.

Tugade, one of the favored senatorial contenders of President Duterte, defended his integrity in his recent post on Facebook.

“Hindi ako santo. People may accuse me of being overly strict, difficult, and even demanding. But these things, I am extremely sure of— I am not corrupt, and I am not a thief,” he said.

President Duterte used a recent a public address to commend Tugade’s accomplishments and encourage him to run for senator. He said Tugade is one of the “top performers” in his Cabinet. He said it would be a loss to the government if Tugade ends his public service.

After hearing the President’s praises, Tugade thanked Duterte for the trust and confidence in him. Duterte and Tugade were classmates at San Beda College of Law.

“Maraming salamat po sa tiwala at pagkilala, Mr. President, Sir. Your leadership and guidance inspire us to deliver projects for the benefit of the Filipino People. Para sa tao. Para sa bayan. Para sa Pilipino,” Tugade said.
