DFA office in SM Megamall closed until Sept 3 after personnel exposed to COVID-19

The Department of Foreign Affairs has temporarily closed its consular office at a shopping mall in Metro Manila this week after its personnel was exposed to coronavirus disease (COVID-19.

The operations of the DFA consular office at SM Megamall will be shut down from August 31 to September 3, 2021 based on the DFA’s latest Facebook post.

“The Department of Foreign Affairs advises the public that the operations of DFA Consular Office (CO) NCR East branch, located at SM Megamall, are temporarily suspended from 31 August to 03 September 2021. All Passport and Authentication appointments during this period will be rescheduled at the soonest,” the DFA said.

The DFA explained that its personnel were identified as close contacts of a COVID-19 positive individual. The concerned DFA personnel will undergo self-quarantine based on the guidelines imposed by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for Emerging Infectious Diseases.

Due to the temporary closure of the DFA office at the small, the affected applicants are advised to check their emails for instructions on their rescheduled appointment.

“The Department requests the public’s understanding as it continues to adhere to prescribed measures to prevent the further spread of the COVID-19 pandemic,” it said.
