In his National Heroes’ Day message, Presidential Adviser on Peace Process and National Task Force against Covid-19 chief implementer Carlito Galvez Jr. reminded everyone that they, too, can be heroes in their own little ways.
“Let us remember that all of us can be heroes. We can do this by doing our share to protect ourselves, our loved ones and everyone around us against the disease, while advocating peace in our communities,” Galvez said in a statement Monday.
The secretary paid tribute to the heroism of medical workers who risk their lives to save people’s lives amid the health crisis.
“A new breed of heroes, however, emerged when the Covid-19 pandemic broke out last year. They are the men and women who have risked life and limb every day to serve and protect our countrymen from the deadly virus,” according to him.
“These are the doctors, nurses, soldiers, police officers, local government and barangay workers, riders, fast food service crew, and many other private sector and civil servants, who despite threats to their health and safety, bravely carry out their duties,” he added.
Galvez also acknowledged the contributions peace advocates and peacebuilders continue to make to achieve an inclusive and lasting peace in the Philippines through solidarity, mutual understanding and reconciliation among Filipinos.
“As we celebrate National Heroes Day, let us honor these courageous, dedicated and hardworking men and women who are at the forefront of our nation’s fight against the deadly virus, and are helping to build a culture of peace throughout the country,” he concluded.
