Isko Moreno on presidency: ‘There is time for that’

By Prince Golez

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said he will announce his decision on whether he’ll be running in 2020 at “the right time.

During an interview with TV host-actress Toni Gonzaga-Soriano, Domagoso said all politicians aspire to become president.

“Lahat ng politiko pag sinawsaw na ‘yung paa sa swimming pool ng pulitika, ang maximum goal niyan presidency,” the mayor said, who became popular first as an actor.

“Career growth ‘yun. The dangerous thing that we’ll do in the next coming months is to politicize the situation. But ako kasi, there is time for that.

“I will be honest to the people and be fair at the very least by saying it [at] the right time. Today, ‘mauna na kayo. Atat kayo eh. Sige,” he added.

Asked for how long he sees himself in public service, Domagoso said he will retire from political office in his 50s.

“Tantsa ko sana pagdating ko na 50 pahinga na ako. Within that range, I’ve been working since 10 years old. Kumbaga sa makina ng kotse pang overhaul na ako. Gastadong-gastado na ako,” according to the 46-year-old politiko.

“There is a point that I have learned with great leaders, they know when to stop. I’ve never dreamed of being a mayor of Manila,” he also said.
