Leni Robredo opens up about feeling presence of dead spouse: ‘May visual representation s’ya’

By Prince Golez

Nine years after the death of Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo, Vice President Leni Robredo still senses the presence of her husband.

It seemed as if he never really left, Leni said during an interview by TV host-actress Toni Gonzaga-Soriano.

“May ano siya eh, visual na representation. Halimbawa, every time there is a birthday or an anniversary or we’re going through a rough time, merong brown moth sa loob ng bahay namin,” according to her.

“Before I decided to run for the vice presidency, ‘yung mga anak ko iyak ng iyak for several days, they didn’t want [me to run]. That was a very difficult time for us. During all that time yung brown butterfly nasa sa amin. So, para sa amin, parang pag andiyan siya, source of comfort na parang assurance na nandito lang ako,” she added.

It can be remembered that Robredo died in 2012 after the plane he was riding crashed in the seas off Masbate.

He served as mayor of Naga City for almost two decades and secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government for two years.
