President Rodrigo Duterte urged the public not to vote for incumbent senators running for reelection in the 2022 national elections.
In his pre-recorded Talk to the People aired Tuesday morning, Duterte told Filipinos not to believe in congressional inquiries which lawmakers use for political grandstanding.
“Hindi ako namumulitika, pero ‘wag niyo paniwalaan kaagad ang mga sinasabi sa Kongreso, lalo na ang mga congressman, puro daldal lang para makaporma kasi eleksyon na,” the Chief Executive said.
“Ang hinihingi ko sa taong bayan, ang lahat ng senador, ito kung pagbigyan niyo ako, lahat ng senador na tatakbo, talunin niyo, ‘wag nyo ibalik sa Senado kasi magdaldal lang yan at mag show off para mag yabang,” he added.
Duterte particularly singled out Senator Gordon for being too “talkative” during Senate investigations on the use of Covid-19 pandemic response funds.
