Duterte lambasts ‘talkathon champion” Richard Gordon: ‘Kanya ang tanong, kanya ‘yung sagot’

President Rodrigo Duterte hurled insults against Senator Richard Gordon, who chairs the blue ribbon committee that conducts inquiry on the use of Covid-19 pandemic response funds, for monopolizing Senate inquiries.

Duterte called out Gordon for being too “talkative” and for his “nasty practice” of depriving other senators the chance of asking questions.

“Makita mo si Gordon sa TV, ‘pag committee hearing niya, makita mo maraming congressman, mag roll call, pero dahan-dahan yan mawala, kasi si Gordon ang champion… siya ang nanalo sa talkathon. Puro daldal. Kanya ang tanong, kanya yung sagot, at siya magsabi kung mali ka o hindi,” the Chief Executive said during his taped weekly address aired Tuesday.

“Ganyan si Gordon. Gordon is Gordon. Hindi yan Gordon for the Filipino people. Maniwala ka, puro English lang ‘yan. Sino ang napakulong nya sa anomalya ng gobyerno? Sino? Tingnan mo ngayong eleksyon, bigyan ‘yan sila 30 minutes magsalita, magsalita ng isang oras yan, ganyan yan,” according to him.

Duterte also accused Gordon, who earlier questioned Chinese businessman Michael Yang’s links to former Budget Undersecretary Lloyd Christopher Lao and Senator Bong Go, of being “afflicted with Sinophobia.”

Yang, former economic adviser of Duterte, bagged a total of P8.68 billion worth of contracts for the procurement of medical supplies for the pandemic response.

“Galit ‘yan sa Intsik. Amerikano kasi,” the President said.
