Malacañang on Thursday joined the nation in the celebration of Quezon Day.
Today, August 19, is the 143rd birth anniversary of the “Ama ng Wikang Filipino,” former President Manuel L. Quezon.
“Ngayon, Agosto 19, ay kaarawan ni Presidente Manuel L. Quezon. Happy Quezon Day sa inyong lahat,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a virtual presser.
“Napapanahon na alalahanin ang sinabi ni Pangulo Quezon lalo na na tayo ay nasa gitna ng pandemiya. Wika po ni Presidente Quezon and I quote, ‘I want our people to be like a molave tree, strong and resilient, standing on the hillsides, unafraid of the rising tide, lighting and the storm, confident of its strengths’,” added Roque.
Republic Act No. 6741 declared August 19th of each year a special non-working public holiday in the provinces of Quezon, Aurora and Quezon City.
