Palace welcomes OCTA poll showing Duterte-Duterte tandem at top spot

Malacañang expressed gratitude over the findings of a pre-election survey that revealed Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte and President Rodrigo Duterte as leading contenders for the 2022 presidential and vice-presidential elections.

In a virtual presser Tuesday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque thanked the public for continuously putting their trust and confidence in Duterte and his daughter.

“Nagpapasalamat po kami sa patuloy na tiwala ng ating taumbayan sa ating Presidente at kay Mayor Sara Duterte,” said Roque.

“Malinaw naman po iyan na hindi natin maiiwasan ‘no na talagang ang suporta kay Mayor Sara ay pagsuporta rin sa ating Presidente. Maraming salamat po,” he added.

The July 12 to 18 OCTA Research poll showed that 28 percent of 1,200 adult Filipinos preferred Duterte-Carpio over other possible presidential candidates in next year’s national elections.

She was followed by former senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. (13 percent), Manila City Mayor Francisco Domagoso (11 percent), and Senators Grace Poe and Manny Pacquiao (10 percent each).

For vice president, Duterte topped the list with a preferential rating of 18 percent. Other preferred vice-presidential candidates were Domagoso (11 percent), Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano and Senator Grace Poe (10 percent), and Marcos (nine percent).
