Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo condoled with the family and loved ones of businessman Carmelo Santiago, founder and owner of Melo’s Restaurant and Wagyu Restaurant.
“I share in the family’s grief and wish to extend my sincerest condolences to the family, relatives, colleagues and all the loved ones of departed friend Melo Santiago,” Panelo said in a statement Sunday.
The abogado described Santiago, also a non- executive director of San Miguel Corporation, as a “fiercely protective and loving father” and “faithful and generous friend.”
“To the corporate world, Melo is hailed as one of its most astute leaders. Unknown to many, he was a silent supporter and contributor to many social activities geared towards helping the poor,” he added.
Panelo also offered prayers for his “personal friend of long years.”
“I pray that eternal rest may be granted unto him and perpetual light would shine upon his soul,” he said.
