Roque urges heads of families: ‘Declare household lockdown’

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque is urging heads of households to declare “family lockdown” to prevent the surge of Covid-19 cases due to the spread of the Delta variant.

“May magandang nasabi sa akin si acting Mayor (Michael) Rama ng Cebu City. The best way to implement what we want to achieve is for the head of the family to declare family lockdown,” Roque said in a virtual presser Monday.

“Kada pamilya na po. Kung hindi kinakailangan lumabas, yung pinuno ng pamilya – tatay, nanay, lolo, lola, at tiyo – mag-order ‘walang lalabas unless bibili ng pagkain o gamot’,” he added.

The official likewise urged everyone not to rely on quarantine restrictions, saying that family lockdown is the “solution” to beat Covid-19.

“Nananawagan po ako sa lahat ng hepe ng mga pamilya, mag-declare na kayo ng household lockdown. ‘Wag niyo nang palabasin ang inyong mga mahal sa buhay dahil baka mamatay pa yan dahil sa Delta variant,” he concluded.
