Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque on Wednesday asked Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon to explain the alleged overpriced sets of personal protective equipment (PPE) acquired by the Aquino administration in 2015 and 2016.
Showing copies of purchase orders of the Department of Health, Roque said the past government bought 2,500 PPE sets at P3,500 per set on September 28, 2015 and 3,750 PPE sets at P3,864 per set on June 23, 2016.
“Alam niyo po, sabi nila, ‘oag ikaw nag-duro, apat na daliri ang nakaturo sa inyo. Ganyan ang nangyari doon sa diumano overpriced PPE,” the Palace official said during his virtual presser.
“Senator Drilon, please explain. Bakit ang mga kakampi mo doble ang halaga ng binili para sa mga PPEs sa panahon na wala pa pang pandemya?”
“Meron po talagang kumita, hindi po sa administrasyong ito,” he added.
Drilon had claimed that the medical items purchased from Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corp., which bagged over P8 billion worth of Covid-19 contracts to supply the DOH with face masks PPEs, and test kits, were “overpriced.”
Davao-based businessman Michael Yang, former economic adviser of President Rodrigo Duterte, has been linked to Pharmally.
An RTVM footage played during a Senate hearing on the pandemic funds last week showed Yang and Pharmally officials having a meeting with Duterte in Davao City.
