SALN nga sikreto! Netizens skeptical of Duterte’s vow to do COA’s job as VP

Netizens doubt President Rodrigo Duterte will make good on his claim to audit government agencies—even if it’s not his job to do so—should he become vice president.

In a televised public address Thursday (August 26), Duterte said there should be an accounting of the Commission on Audit’s (COA) spending.

COA has incurred the President’s ire over its audit reports flagging questionable transactions and spending of government agencies.

“Ako na lang din ang mag-audit sa lahat ng gobyerno. Lahat, pati yung akin. Magsimula ako sa akin,” Duterte said.

Netizens, however, challenged Duterte to disclose his Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) first. The President has kept his SALN secret since 2018.

“Si Duterte ang gagawa ng trabaho ng COA? Ni hindi nga niya maisapubliko ang kanyang SALN eh,” Bayan Muna Party-list Rep. @FerdinandGaite tweeted.
