Senator Aquilino Pimentel III and PDP-Laban executive director Ron Munsayac should apologize to Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte for dragging her into the ruling party’s internal squabble, a ranking PDP-Laban official said Thursday (August 26).
PDP-Laban Secretary General Melvin Matibag said it was “ungentleman” of Pimentel and Munsayac to mention the presidential daughter’s name in statements related to the ruling party.
“I encourage sina Mr. Munsayac tsaka si Sen. Koko to refrain from mentioning the name of the good mayor sa issue ng pulitika ng PDP-Laban They should apologize. That’s being ungentleman,” Matibag said.
Munsayac earlier said that the tandem of Senator Bong Go and President Rodrigo Duterte, which is being pushed by PDP-Laban, was just a “smokescreen or distraction” because Sara was supposedly the ruling party’s “real candidate.”
Sara slammed Pimentel and Munsayac in response, saying she refuses to be a “political punching bag for a party in complete disarray.”
“It is not my fault that no one among you is a leader worthy of the respect of the majority. Do not blame me for the sitcom that your party has been reduced to,” the mayor said.
Pimentel and Munsayac are pushing for the presidential bid of Senator Manny Pacquiao despite his recent ouster from PDP-Laban as its president.
Pacquiao said he will make an important announcement in September.
