For Dr. Tony Leachon, the Philippine president must not only be honest and competent but also inspirational and courageous. These are among the must-have qualities lthe next Philippine president must possess to lead the country, according to Leachon.

Filipino voters will elect the next leader with a six-year term in the May 2022 elections. So far, Senator Panfilo Lacson, Senator Manny Pacquiao, and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso announced plans to run for president in next year’s elections.

Leachon, a former government adviser, previously criticized the Duterte administration for its supposed failed leadership in addressing the coronavirus pandemic. The pandemic already cost many lives and jobs of Filipinos amid criticisms over the government’s bungled response.
