It’s Angel vs the “devil.”
Popular actress Angel Locsin is taking up the cudgels for the country’s hardworking health workers from the reported mean remarks of President Duterte’s spokesman.
In her latest Instagram story, Angel created a meme mocking Roque in protest of his unfavorable comment against health workers.
In the meme, the actress put devil horns and wings on Roque’s image as she sent a big thank-you to these frontline heroes for their tireless service during the pandemic. A caricature of a red demon pops in and out of the meme in Angel’s post against Roque.
Locsin’s post included Roque’s controversial statement criticizing a group of medical workers who were opposed to President Duterte’s vice presidential bid on 2022. The group has dismay with the administration’s poor response to the coronavirus pandemic and called for efficient leadership to survive the crisis.
“Hindi ko po alam kung saang planeta nakatira ‘yang mga health workers na ayaw kay Presidente kasi buong daigdig po ang sinasalanta ng ganitong problema,” Roque said in a Tuesday briefing.
Roque’s statement did not sit well with Locsin and decided to mock the spiteful mouthpiece of the President on Instagram. “Thank you healthcare workers,” Angel wrote.
The actress likewise sent a longer message expressing love and support for the health workers as well as other people struggling during pandemic.
“To those who can’t go & console family & friends fighting their battles alone. I feel you. I wish for you to overcome whatever it is you are going through,” she said.
She also paid tribute to the health workers, saying the world cannot survive without them.
“This crisis has made me realize that the world can work without politicians, businessmen, police, and even without actors like me. but the world can never work without health workers,” she said.
“Again, thank you for all that you do. Sending everyone strength, hope, and love,” she said.
