President Rodrigo Duterte wanted to know if the contractor of the new Senate Building in Fort Bonifacio Taguig City also built the controversial Iloilo Convention Center and the Makati City Hall Building 2.
“May I ask the senators if it is true that the Hilmarc’s is the contractor of the new Senate building being constructed?” Duterte said during his pre-recorded “Talk to the People” address late Monday.
“Is this the same Hilmarc’s contractor that built the Iloilo Convention Center and the Makati City Hall Building 2 that the Senate also investigated during the last administration?” he furthered.
To recall, the Senate investigated Hilmarc’s Construction Corp. from 2014 to 2016 for the alleged anomalies in the construction of the Makati City Hall Building 2 and the Makati Science High School building.
It was also the contractor in the Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Iloilo Convention Center project, which was also believed to be overpriced.
