Duterte prays for accurate vote counts in 2022: ‘Nobody wants cheating’

By Prince Golez

President Rodrigo Duterte expressed hope on Friday that there will be no vote rigging in the May 2022 elections.

In his speech during the inauguration of the new Sultan Kudarat Provincial Hospital, Duterte called on Filipinos to ensure that the upcoming election is free and fair.

“Ang election gusto ko sa lahat ng buong Pilipinas na peaceful and people can vote freely for their candidates and that the votes will be counted correctly. Iyon lang naman ang gusto nating lahat eh,” according to the President.

“Nobody wants trouble, nobody wants cheating. Pass this on, this message to everybody outside here na sabi ko nakikiusap na ako, I am pleading, almost praying that people will really stick to the rule of law and avoid violence,” he added.

Duterte, who is running for vice president under the ruling PDP-Laban party, said he may be forced to use “the might of the military” to ensure that the 2022 elections will be “peaceful and violence-free.”
