Duterte to PDP-Laban bets: Create genuine and lasting prosperity for PH

President Rodrigo Duterte enjoined the newly-proclaimed candidates of the PDP-Laban for next year’s polls to unite and focus on their mission to “improve the quality of life of every Filipino.”

Duterte, who was formally endorsed as the ruling party’s vice presidential candidate yesterday, expressed confidence that they will “duly prepare for your future responsibilities as elected public officials.”

“Regardless of the election results and even beyond the election period, I expect you to uphold the party’s principles and aspirations,” the President said during the PDP-Laban’s national convention and proclamation of its candidates for the 2022 national and local elections.

“Let us not be hindered by those who only seek personal political gain and, instead, realign ourselves with the Party’s objectives. I am confident that with our strong resolve and solidarity, we will once again claim victory in the upcoming elections and together achieve genuine and lasting prosperity for our country,” he added.

Meanwhile, the PDP-Laban also nominated Senator Bong Go as its official candidate for the country’s top post. But, Go again declined the endorsement, insisting that he’s not interested in the presidency.

The ruling party also proclaimed Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo, Transport Secretary Arthur Tugade, Leyte Rep. Lucy Torres-Gomez, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, Public Works Secretary Mark Villar, Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission chairperson Greco Belgica, and House Deputy Speaker Rodante Marcoleta as its senatorial candidates.
