Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque has yet to comment on a video circulating social media of him berating a group of doctors appealing to the government to reconsider its decision to ease Covid-19 restrictions in Metro Manila.
The Inquirer got hold of a video showing Roque losing his cool over a suggestion to backtrack on the government’s earlier plan to shift to a general community quarantine with alert levels in the capital region.
“We are employing an entire government approach to the government. Do not sit there as if you are the ones right. We are trying to achieve total health,” the Palace official said with a loud voice in a Zoom meeting with a medical experts’ group.
“Who wants COVID to kill people? Are you saying that only medical frontliners are concerned about the health of the people? We all want to save lives, for crying out loud. No one in government wants a single life lost! No one!
“How dare you think that we are not considering steps to prevent the loss of lives?” he furthered.
The meeting took place Tuesday prior to the announcement of Roque that the National Capital Region will remain under modified enhanced community quarantine until September 15 “or until the pilot [general community quarantine] with alert level system is implemented, whichever comes first.”
