The House Committee on Legislative Franchises has endorsed for plenary approval a measure granting franchise to the University of Southern Mindanao to operate a radio broadcasting station.
Under House Bill 10152, the university will be allowed to construct and operate radio stations and needed facilities in Cotabato province.
The measure also mandates the radio station to give a public service time equivalent to 10% of paid commercials or advertisements, which shall enable the government to reach the pertinent populations or portions thereof on important public issues and relay important public announcements and warnings concerning public emergencies and calamities.
