Isang Duterte lang tatakbo! Sara won’t seek presidency after Rody accepts VP challenge

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte will not run for president since her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, is bent on seeking the vice presidency in 2022.

Sara on Thursday (Sept. 9) cited her agreement with her father as the reason why she will no longer be seeking a national post.

“Yes, I am not running for a national position as we both agreed only one of us will run for a national position in 2022,” she said when asked for a categorical statement that she will no longer run for president.

Duterte on Wednesday (Sept. 8) announced he will run for vice president under PDP-Laban. Senator Bong Go, whom the ruling party is pushing to be the President’s running mate, has declined to be its standard bearer, saying he’s not interested in the presidency.

Sara said that based on her last conversation with her father, the Go-Duterte tandem “was their Plan A.”

“The Plan B was for SBG (Go’s initials) to run as VP,” she said.

Sara said she will be “eternally thankful” for the trust and confidence of her supporters.

“I am happy we are united in our desire to see a better Philippines in the future,” she said.
