The country is unfortunately suffering a tragedy given the “hubris” of some government officials.
Former Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda talked about the country’s dismal situation after deploring the arrogance of his predecessor towards the country’s medical professionals.
Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque earlier berated physician leaders who opposed reverting Metro Manila to general community quarantine due to rising COVID-19 cases. Roque’s controversial temper tantrum was caught on video during a virtual IATF meeting. Some groups have denounced Roque for his rude behavior and sought his removal from office.
“The tragedy is we have incompetent people in government who parade their conceited arrogance & imposed it on us. Not only do they imposed their idiocy on social media, they now even dare berate those that put their lives in harm’s way & speak as though their lives mean more,” Lacierda tweeted.
Lacierda slammed the hubris and idiocy allegedly shown by certain officials while the country’s health workers are battling the pandemic at the frontlines.
“The frontliners spoke truth to power but power spewed arrogance back. Privilege hectoring covid crusaders w/ hubris basking in afternoon delight as the overworked rest in quietude,” he said.
As the coronavirus pandemic continued to take a toll on Filipino live and livelihoods, the former Cabinet member asked the public how long they would tolerate such “idiotic conceit” from government.
“In the face of death, why do we tolerate idiotic conceit? How much more before the dam breaks?” he asked.
