Filipino pool player Carlo Biado won the US Open Pool championship, beating Singapore’s Aloysius Yapp, 13-8, held in Atlantic City, New Jersey on Sunday.
Biado is the first Filipino to win the US Open 9-Ball title since Efren “Bata” Reyes won the tournament in 1994.
In a statement, Malacañang congratulated Biado “for bringing pride and honor to the country.”
“Carlo is indeed a world-class billiards champion… Mabuhay ka, Carlo,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said.
To recall, President Rodrigo Duterte conferred Carlo a presidential citation for winning a gold medal in the 29th Southeast Asian Games in 2017.
