A children’s book about the life and work of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno have been flying off the shelves amid rumored plans to run for public office in next year’s elections.
The book titled “Yorme!” written by noted author Yvette Fernandez and illustrated by Ray Bunga is reportedly among the top-selling books at National Book Store. The book, highlighted by colorful illustrations, chronicles Isko’s days as poor kid from Tondo until his rise as an actor and eventually a public servant in Manila.
When Mayor Isko learned about the brisk sales of the book, he welcomed the news.
“Nakakatuwa naman po,” the Manila mayor wrote on Facebook.
Mayor Isko was reacting to Fernandez’s social media post that the “Yorme” book is among the most popular books at a local bookstore.
“A friend spotted this setup at National Book Store Power Plant mall. Among the Most Popular Books.
Yorme! The life story of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno,” Fernandez said.
The book about Mayor Isko, that features his struggles and dreams, is also available at the online bookstore Pumplepie Books and Happiness for P275.
“Yorme’s story is definitely worth reading, whether or not he decides to lead the nation,” Pumplepie Books and Happiness said on Facebook.
