Is Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio open to running for president next year?

The mayor has thanked her supporters for trusting her ability to become the country’s next president and will continue to listen to the people’s pulse.

Mayor Sara’s message was relayed by her spokeswoman, Liloan Mayor Christina Garcia Frasco, after she topped the list of presidential contenders based on a latest Pulse Asia survey. The poll results showed Filipinos yearn for stable leadership and believe Mayor Sara as a capable leader of the country, Frasco said.

“Nagpapasalamat po si Mayor Sara sa lahat ng ating mga kasbabayan na nananawagan at naniniwala na si Mayor Sara ay karapatdapat na susunod na presidente. The latest Pulse Asia survey reflects the people’s desire for stable leadership in these uncertain times,” Frasco said on Facebook.

“Owing to Mayor Sara’s stellar track record of performance as mayor of Davao and her courage and conviction as a leader who always puts the people’s needs first, the people see in Mayor Sara the president that we need and the president we can trust,” she said.

She said Mayor Sara will continue to listen to the sentiment of the people. The President’s daughter earlier decided she won’t run for president and instead seek reelection in next year’s elections.

“Patuloy din niyang pinakikinggan ang pulso ng mamamayang Pilipino. Nakikiisa siya sa hangarin ng ating mga kababayan na makabangon sa paghihirap patungo sa pag-unlad ng ating bayan,” Frasco said.
