Trying hard to be an American! Duterte to Dick: I will campaign against you

President Rodrigo Duterte said he will campaign against Senator Dick Gordon in the 2022 elections.

In his taped public address aired on Tuesday, Duterte said Gordon, also the chairperson of the Blue Ribbon Committee investigating the procurement of allegedly overpriced medical supplies, is “unfit” to be a senator.

“I will campaign against you for being unfit to be a senator of this Republic,” the country’s chief executive said.

“Others are trying to be Chinese when they are not, ikaw naman you are trying to be an American na hindi ka naman totoong Amerikano,” he added.

Duterte accused Gordon of being “in cahoots with criminals” and fabricating stories.

“Gordon has forever lost his credibility,” the President said.

“You know senator, you are a lawyer. You pretend to be, wala man ako kita nag trial ka, you spent most of your time doon sa Subic. Hindi ka na pinansin ni (then President Fidel) Ramos, habol ka pa ng habol. Thats the kind of person you are. So you deserve the company of (former police officer Eduardo) Acierto and (former Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency deputy chief Ismael) Fajardo,” he said.

The President has accused Acierto, who linked former economic adviser Michael Yang to illegal narcotics, and Fajardo of being involved in a series of extortion and other illegal activities.
