Duterte hopes next gov’t leaders will continue reforms, programs under his admin

President Rodrigo Duterte has expressed hope that the next leadership will continue the reforms, projects, and programs undertaken by his administration.

“It is time to give way to a new set of leaders who hopefully continue the reforms, projects, and programs that this administration has pursued for the past few years,” Duterte said during his Talk to the People address Monday evening.

On Saturday, the Chief Executive announced that he was retiring from politics after his term expires in June 2022. He also dropped his plans to run for vice president in next year’s polls.

Duterte wished that the next government officials will pursue his campaign against illegal drugs, criminality, corruption, terrorism, and insurgency.

“I likewise hope that they will continue what we have begun in terms of infrastructure development and the many other initiatives we have undertaken during my term,” he added.
