Palace clarifies: Affected provinces were consulted on alert level system implementation

By Prince Golez

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases consulted the local government units (LGUs) covered by the alert level system, Malacañang clarified Thursday.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque made the statement after the League of Provinces of the Philippines appealed to defer the immediate implementation of the alert level system in some provinces as they were not consulted on the easing of quarantine restrictions.

“Lilinawin ko lang po. Lahat ng mga rehiyon at probinsya na magpapatupad ng alert level kinonsulta po ang mga LGUs,” Roque said during his televised briefing.

According to him, the entire League of Provinces of the Philippines was not consulted because only a few provinces were included in the pilot implementation of the alert level system.

“Hindi po siguro nakonsulta ang buong League of Governors kasi hindi naman po i-implement sa lahat ng probinsya ang alert level system. Pero yung mga lugar, yung mga expanded pilot areas, nakonsulta po sila dahil ang mga lokal na pamahalaan ay magpapatupad nitong alert level system,” he explained.
