Gov’t mulls new round of massive vax drive on Dec. 15 to 17

By Prince Golez

The national government is looking at extending its massive vaccination drive from December 15 until December 17, according to Malacañang.

“We’re also considering another round of vaccination days for December, 15, 16, 17,” acting presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles said in an interview with ANC’s Headstart.

Nograles said this will add a significant layer of defense against the new Omicron or B.1.1.529 variant, which has been detected in several countries.

“We’re still finalizing that but the reason for all of this is again to add the defense against Omicron and whatever variants there are,” according to him.

“Napakaganda po ng bilang na nakikita natin at yung nireport kanina, 425. Biruin mo 425 yesterday yung new cases. Yung active cases natin 15,800 then it’s going down and down and down. We’re hopeful that this will continue so that we can really go to the new normal way of living,” he added.

Today is the last day of the three-day national vaccination day that aims to vaccinate a total of 9 million Filipinos from November 29 to December 1.
