Harry Roque ‘hurt’ by war criminal tag: ‘Di po tayo pumatay ng kapwa Pilipino

Palace Spokesman Harry Roque on Friday admitted being hurt by accusations that he’s a war criminal.

Earlier, New York-based Filipino militants, who opposed his nomination to the International Law Commission, accused Roque of being a war criminal and a human rights violator.

“Napakasakit po na tawagin tayong war criminal. Wala nga po tayong ginawa sa mahigit 30 taon na tayo po’y nag pratice ng law kung hindi protektahan ang karapatan ng ibang tao,” the Palace official said in a virtual presser.

“Ni minsan po, hindi po tayo pumatay ng kapwa Pilipino dahil hindi po tayo naniniwala sa rebolusyon hindi gaya ng nag paratang sa akin na war criminal ako,” he added.

Roque, a former human rights lawyer, is vying for a seat at United Nations body that develops and codifies international legal norms.
