House panels endorse Fuyot Springs park as ecotourism destination

The House Committees on Tourism and on Appropriations have endorsed for plenary approval a measure declaring Fuyot Springs national park in Isabela an ecotourism destination.

Under House Bill 10454, the Department of Tourism (DOT) will prioritize the development of the Fuyot Springs National Park located in Barangay Sta. Victoria, Ilagan, Isabela.

The DOT, in coordination with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and concerned local government units and agencies, will come up with a development plan within one year from the enactment of the measure.

Fuyot Springs was declared a national park by virtue of Presidential Proclamation 327 series of 1938 under the leadership of President Manuel Quezon.

Among the attractions of the park are more than 12 caves, which are open to the public for spelunking. It has lattices, stalactites and stalagmites. The Pinzal Falls is also located in the park.
