Jimenez: COMELEC has yet to grant Marcos Jr. extension

By James Hernandez

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has yet to resolve the motion of presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. who sought for more time to respond to the disqualification case against him, COMELEC spokesman James Jimenez said.

“I got word from a commissioner, a direct word from the commissioner, that this has not yet been resolved,” Jimenez said.

Jimenez pointed this out after Marcos spokesperson Vic Rodriguez said in interview over CNN Philippines on Thursday (Nov. 18) that the motion has been granted by the COMELEC.

The disqualifcation petition sought to disqualify Marcos from running for the presidency due to his conviction for tax offenses.

The case has been raffled with the COMELEC Second Division which issued him a summons that required him to answer the petition within an “inextendible” five days from notice.
