No need for law on mandatory COVID vaccination – Guevarra

By James Hernandez

As more people want to get vaccinated, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said there might be no need for a law for mandatory vaccination against the COVID-19 virus.

“A law making COVID-19 vaccination mandatory may not be necessary, as more and more people are voluntarily getting themselves vaccinated as vaccine supply becomes more available, and the hesitancy rate has substantially gone down,” he stated.

Guevarra has always maintained that existing laws does not allow forcing people to get vaccinated.

“The objective is to reach herd immunity at the soonest possible time,” he said.

“If this objective could be achieved by means other than compulsion, I would go those other means,” he added.
