Senate President Tito Sotto instructed the Senate secretariat to enforce stricter protocols for entry to the Senate offices after senators and staff were exposed to Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana who tested positive for Covid-19 a day after attending the chamber’s plenary session.
The requirements now to enter the Senate premises are the following: a negative RT-PCR result or a negative antigen result with 24-hour validity, a medical certificate indicating no symptoms of Covid-19 for 24 hours, and a vaccination card.
The Senate secretary, Myra Villarica, issued the guidelines on Wednesday after the Senate leadership decided to put off the plenary budget deliberations until Monday for testing of exposed persons and disinfection of the premises.
The requirements are supposed to be submitted to the Senate’s medical staff on duty on the day of the visit.
“Likewise, the names of the visitors, guests, and resource persons must be submitted to the Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms at least one day before the scheduled appearance,” Villarica said.
