Duterte earlier persuaded Go to run for president after he backed out from the vice presidential race when his daughter Mayor Sara Duterte of Davao City sought the national post in the elections.

For now, Go said the President has yet to endorse a new presidential bet for 2022 elections. Duterte is expected to support a successor who will continue his programs from fighting criminality and corruption to pursuing infrastructure projects.
