President Rodrigo Duterte presided over a situation briefing on Typhoon “Odette” in Maasin City, Leyte on Saturday, December 18.
Odette made its third landfall in Southern Leyte on December 16 with maximum sustained winds of 195 kilometer per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 270kph.
Duterte also distributed relief packages and cash assistance to typhoon-affected individuals in the province, videos from Radio Television Malacañang showed.
He also conducted an aerial inspection in areas severely affected by Odette, which caused massive flooding and brought strong winds in different provinces across Mindanao and Visayas.
The President likewise inspected the damages at Surigao Airport whose terminal was severely damaged by the typhoon.
