Velasco lauds successful 3-day vax drive: ‘Let’s keep the momentum going as we enter the most joyous season’

Speaker Lord Allan Jay Velasco thanked President Rodrigo Duterte and other government officials behind the National Vaccination Days for having the foresight to launch such “a brilliant initiative” to further protect the Filipinos from the COVID-19 and its emerging variants.

Velasco also urged eligible individuals but have yet to get vaccinated to take the offer, especially during the second run of the “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” on December 15 to 17.

“Getting vaccinated is our best defense against the deadly coronavirus,” Velasco said in a statement.

During the first run, the Malacañang announced that a total of 8.01 million individuals were vaccinated from November 29 to December 1.

The program was extended for two days increasing the total tally to 9.9 million.

Despite the clear signs of success as the number of infections fell significantly in the past weeks, Velasco said “we must strive to maintain the progress until we have inoculated enough Filipinos to get the pandemic under control.”

“Let us keep the momentum going especially as we enter the most joyous season of the year. Let us protect ourselves and others by getting vaccinated. Let us all do our part in regaining our way of life before the pandemic,” he said.
