Nancy Binay revives black and white Christmas video: ‘Sa gitna ng dilim, Pasko’y may pag-asa pa rin’

With Christmas just around the corner, Senator Nancy Binay is spreading the message of hope and love.

Binay has revived a timely black and white 2018 Christmas ad that offers hope amid the dark times.

“Sa gitna ng ating mga pagdiriwang, nawa’y huwag po nating kalimutan ang tunay na diwa ng Kapaskuhan – kapayapaan, pag-asa at pagmamahal sa kapwa ❤  #ChristmasCountdown2021 #PaskongBeNice🌚,” she captioned the video on Instagram.

The short video features the voice of Binay, who has used humor to deal with jokes about her dark skin, as she sympathizes with the Filipinos struggling with the daunting challenges. Her dialogue is shown on a white text against a black screen.

The video starts with a black background, but stars slowly emerged as the senator talks about hope, love and forgiveness, which she said are precious gifts this holiday season.

“Ang hirap kasi ng buhay ngayon eh. Pero alam niyo, kapos man sa materyal na bagay, marami pa rin tayong mabibigay — pagmamahal, pang-unawa, pagpapatawad. ‘Yan ang tunay na nagpapasaya sa Pasko,” she says in the video.

“Sa gitna ng dilim, Pasko’y may pag-asa pa rin,” she adds.

The senator’s 2018 holiday message remains relevant as the nation is still dealing with the devastating blow of the coronavirus pandemic. More than 2.8 million Filipinos have been infected with the virus while more than 49,000 died. As of December 5, 2021, the country’s active cases reached 14,338.

The government has gradually relaxed the movement curbs in low risk areas amid efforts to revitalize business and consumer confidence and spur economic growth.

The holiday video was first posted by Binay back in 2018. It was a year before the senator won a reelection in 2019.
