DILG, DSWD mull one-week extension of SAP distribution

By Prince Golez

The Department of the Interior and Local Government plans to extend the distribution of cash assistance under the government’s social amelioration program (SAP).

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said that he and Social Welfare Secretary Rolando Bautista were studying the request of mayors in Metro Manila for an extension of the cash benefit program.

The former military chief said the following local government units (LGUs) may be granted a seven-day extension of aid distribution:

• National Capital Region

• Province of Cavite

• Province of Rizal

• Province of Laguna

• Province of Bulacan

• Cebu City

• Davao City

“For other LGUs na may problema, four days extension. They have to liquidate immediately para mai-prepare ang second tranche.
