President Rodrigo Duterte wants poor families in areas under general community quarantine (GCQ) to receive the second tranche of the government’s emergency cash subsidy, Malacañang said Friday.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said that Duterte has ordered Budget Secretary Wendel Avisado to look for funding sources so that all 23 million low-income households will get financial assistance
“Nag-usap kami ni presidente kaninang madaling araw at ang sabi niya inaatasan niya si DBM Secretary Wendel Avisado na suriin yung mga budgetary allocations ng line agencies (at) tignan kung magkano ang puwede ma-realign dahil nais niya sana bigyan ang lahat ng 23 million Filipinos ng second tranche din,” Roque said in an interview on dzRH.
He added that the President also asked Congress to help him look for funds to cover the funding requirements for the second tranche of the cash assistance under the social amelioration program.
The government earlier said that only qualified beneficiaries in areas under modified enhanced community quarantine will receive the second wave of SAP subsidies.
In accordance to the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act, low-income families will receive P5,000 to P8,000 in cash subsidy for two months.
