Metro Manila will likely remain under general community quarantine (GCQ) after June 15, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said.
In a CNN Philippines interview Friday, Año said that moving towards modified GCQ may cause an increase in the number of coronavirus infections.
“Para sa akin, 50-50 pero mas lamang, magre-remain ‘yan (Metro Manila) sa GCQ,” the vice-chair of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases said.
“If we are going to relax it now, baka mabulunan o madapa. Baka kung okay na tayo pero dahil niluwagan mo, bumalik na naman at magkaroon ng mas (maraming kaso),” he added.
President Rodrigo Duterte is scheduled to decide on the fate of the community quarantine in the National Capital Region and other parts of the country on Monday.
